Dear Sacred Heart Parish Family,

This past week one our delegates, Adrian Boafo, in the Maryland House of Delegates filed a request that Sacred Heart's property be listed on both the state and the national registers of historic places.

You can read Delegate Boafo's press release below and his letter to the National Park Service. The parish together with the Archdiocese has issued the following statement:

The Sacred Heart Parish community and The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington welcomes the request from Delegate Boafo that our burial grounds be declared a National Historic Site. We are grateful for the Delegate’s support as we undertake the task of properly honoring and caring for those buried on our parish grounds. This designation would be an important step in a process of justice and healing that we are committed to seeing through. 

We hope you will be able to join us on the Hill tomorrow at 3 PM for a prayer service in our cemetery.
